8am: backpack
Straps out, both hands free. Laptop, charger and the day’s paperwork sit flat against your back on the way in.
11am: briefcase
Pick it up by the top handles and it’s a briefcase. Tablet in one front pocket, phone in the other, nothing to dig for when the meeting starts.
6pm: over the shoulder
Clip on the shoulder strap for the walk to dinner or the dash through the terminal. Same bag, third carry.
One bag for the whole day beats three bags for parts of it.
